Frequently Asked Questions

Can't find what you're looking for? Reach out to us at support@mrpetlover.com.

Can I identify my dog's breed from a photo?

Yes — but use our breed identifier tool at /dogs/identify, not the quiz. Upload a photo there and it analyses coat, ears, muzzle, and body proportions to suggest likely breeds, including probable parent breeds for mixed dogs. The Dog Breed Identifier Quiz works the other way round: it shows you photos and asks you to name the breed, so it is practice rather than analysis.

What's the difference between these quizzes?

We have 5 quiz types: Identify (breed from photo), Word & Puzzle (Wordle/word games), Knowledge (true/false and multiple choice), Find Your Match (personality-based pet recommender), and Speed & Reflex (timed games). Each tests different skills and knowledge areas.

Do I need to sign up or pay?

No. All quizzes are free and require no sign-up. Your results are stored locally in your browser and are never sent to us or stored on our servers.

How do I know which quiz is right for me?

Start with Identify quizzes if you want to learn breed characteristics from photos. Choose Knowledge Quizzes if you prefer true/false or multiple-choice. Try Find Your Match if you're thinking about getting a pet and want a recommendation. Speed & Reflex games are great for quick gameplay. Most quizzes offer an Easy level to start from, though a few — Pet Speed Sort and Breed or Bluff — are deliberately hard.

Can I retake a quiz?

Yes! All quizzes can be retaken as many times as you want. The knowledge and breed quizzes draw a fresh set of questions from a larger pool each time you play, and the games generate a new puzzle. Where a quiz tracks a best score, that score is kept in your own browser only.

Why do some quizzes have difficulty levels?

Difficulty levels help you progress from beginner to expert. Easy levels teach fundamentals (basic breed colors, common behaviors). Medium levels require deeper knowledge (rare breeds, subtle behavioral differences). Hard levels are for true pet experts. Pick a level before you start, then choose a different one on your next round.

Are these quizzes accurate for breed identification?

Our breed identification quizzes are based on AKC, ASPCA, and AVMA breed standards. They teach you the official characteristics that define each breed. However, real-world breed identification (especially for mixed breeds or dogs with unusual coloring) is complex. If you're adopting or making breed-specific care decisions, consult with a veterinarian.

What if I get a quiz result I don't understand?

On the knowledge and breed quizzes, you'll see your score plus an explanation for each question you missed — what the correct answer is and why it matters. The word, puzzle and speed games score you without per-question explanations, since there is no single fact behind each round. From either, you can click through to related breed guides or care articles to dive deeper.
